The Tiro Mpane Foundation National Choral Eisteddfod (TMF-NCE) set the stage for an extraordinary musical year with a vibrant and packed Gauteng Regional Elimination held on Sunday, 3 August 2025 at the ZK Matthews Hall. A sold-out audience witnessed a thrilling daytime event filled with world-class performances and unforgettable moments.
From the opening item to the final note, the atmosphere was electric as choirs across the province competed in both the Standard and Large categories, delivering performances that combined technical precision, emotional depth, and sheer musical brilliance. It was a true celebration of South African choral excellence and a powerful display of what lies ahead in the TMF-NCE 2025 season.
Emerging victorious in the Standard Category was Meadowlands Chorale, whose performance captivated the adjudicators and audience alike. They were followed by Amazwi KaNtu in second place and Ingoma Chorus in third. In the Large Category, Kopano Chorus delivered a commanding musical experience that secured them the top spot, with Gauteng Choristers and African Sweet Melodies placing second and third respectively in a tightly contested lineup.
As excitement builds, the Eisteddfod’s next destination is the North West Province, where the Matlosana Auditorium Hall will host the regional eliminations on Saturday, 9 August 2025. With anticipation running high, the journey toward the national finals continues to gain momentum.
